Splash World in Southport has taken an exciting step closer to reopening after Sefton Council’s Cabinet today approved an additional £270,000 towards essential repair works. The popular all weather indoor water park, which normally welcomes thousands of families from across the North West of England each year, is on course to reopen later this year, with a provisional target date of October. A ‘pop-up’ Memory Café for people living with dementia is being organised by Alzheimer’s Society at the Botanic Gardens Café on Tuesday June 28 from 10am to 12.30pm. The café will provide an ideal setting for those living with dementia and their carers to socialise and get much needed face to face support. The Merseyside Transport Trust (MTT) will be holding its Annual Open Day event on Sunday 31st July to raise funds for the upkeep of its fleet of over 50 historic vehicles. A transgender teenager in Lancashire has hosted a trailblazing event for queer students who missed out on their high school prom experience. On Thursday 26 May, Edge Hill Students’ Union held its first ever Queer Prom, just for LGBTQ+ students and allies. The Southport Artists For Ukraine event has raised over £4,000 for victims of the war in Ukraine. The event took place at Southport Market over four days from 7th-10th April and has raised a total of £4,333 so far – although people can still donate through a JustGiving page here.
