Woodlands are appealing for loving homes amid overwhelming demand for cat and kitten rescue

    By Community Contributor17th July 2025

The summer months always bring with them a constant stream of requests for Woodlands Animal Sanctuary to take unwanted, abandoned, stray or poorly cats and kittens.  This year is no different. Woodlands is urgently appealing to the public for loving, permanent homes for a number of vulnerable cats and kittens in its care. As the charity faces an overwhelming demand for its services, their staff and volunteers are doing all they can to ensure every feline gets the second chance they deserve.

Currently, the sanctuary is caring for 25 kittens alongside their nine devoted mothers, plus 4 orphaned kittens, all of whom have found themselves at the sanctuary through no fault of their own. Some were abandoned, others born outside in unsafe conditions, and a few surrendered due to changes in their owners’ circumstances. These little lives now rely on the charity’s dedicated team to guide them to safety, health, and hopefully, a forever family.

In addition to the kittens, ten adult cats are also ready to find their loving forever homes. These cats vary in age and personality, but they all share one thing in common: a need for a stable, compassionate home where they can thrive.

“The demand for our help is greater than ever,” said their Animal Care Manager.  “Every day, we receive calls and messages about cats and kittens in desperate need of rescue. We are doing everything we can, but our space and resources are limited. What we need now are kind-hearted people who can offer safe, nurturing homes to these animals.”

Woodlands ensures that all cats and kittens are vet-checked, vaccinated, microchipped, and, where appropriate, neutered before going to their new homes. The team also provides advice and support to ensure successful adoptions and lifelong matches.

Whether you’re looking to rehome your first cat or are ready to welcome another kitten into your family, the sanctuary encourages you to reach out. By opening your heart and home, you can change a cat’s life—and enrich your own.
