TRAFFIC | Southport Musical Fireworks Championships

27th September 2019

The annual Musical Fireworks event comes to Southport again this weekend over the next three evenings, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event itself is held in Victoria Park with tickets available on entry.

The weather forecast is less than promising however, the rain is less of an issue to the fireworks than the wind is, and the organisers will be paying close attention to the forecast to try and ensure the event goes ahead as fully as possible.

ROAD CLOSURES WILL BE IN PLACE ON MARINE DRIVE FROM 7:45PM AND THE ESPLANADE FROM 6:00PM.

OFFICIAL CAR PARKING FOR THE EVENT IS ON MARINE DRIVE BETWEEN PLEASURELAND AND PIER, SO IF YOU ARE HEADING FOR THAT CAR PARKING, MAKE SURE YOU ARRIVE BEFORE THE ROAD CLOSURES GO IN PLACE.

The Firework championships historically bring large crowds into the town. So as with any event of this size, we will have officers deployed across the promenade and seafront areas to assist with any issues or incidents. Some officers will be visible, others will not, but they will be there. Look out for us and feel free to come and speak with us.

Pet owners are reminded that this event sees the start of the firework season. Don’t forget to take steps to keep pets in and try to protect them from the noise of sudden fireworks as much as you can.
