SWANS stop traffic on Formby bypass

Furious drivers on the northbound carriageway of the Formby bypass have had their journeys ground to a halt thanks to a family of swans.

In a scene straight from Hot Fuzz, a group of swans have meandered into the busy carriageway and are refusing to budge as cars begin to pile up behind them.

The tailbacks are now running as far back as Tesco Formby after the swans stopped on the road near to RAF Woodvale.

Angry drivers are now trying to herd the birds off the road.
