Southport Strollers invite you to wear yellow and join 5k World Bee Day Run in Ainsdale

By On The Spot News5th May 2026
Large group of people in bright shirts standing in front of a water park with blue slides, arms raised in celebration.

The Southport Strollers are inviting everyone to come together and wear yellow on a special World Bee Day Run run.

The event will take place from 7pm on  Wednesday 20th May 2026, starting from the Lifeguard Hut at Ainsdale Beach in Southport.

The Southport Strollers said: “We’re coming together for a one-off, special community 5k run, in support of Bebe’s Hive CIC.

“We are inviting voluntary donations to Bebe’s Hive CIC, and will collect cash on the night.

“This will be an easy, social 5K run – approximately 2.5k out and back.

“This is NOT a race – there will be no timing, and no prizes – just about a social community event.

“Please wear yellow, with voluntary donations, cash, all for Bebe’s Hive.

“This run is about bringing people together, remembering Bebe, and supporting an incredible cause.

“Family and friends and any local running groups welcome to join us – just let us know in comments on our Southport Strollers Facebook or Instagram pages so we know rough numbers.

“Any children must be accompanied by an adult please.

“Let’s get together. Support together. Make a difference together.”

In April, on what would have been Bebe King’s 8th birthday, Bebe’s Hive CIC invited our community to once again come together in colour, kindness, and remembrance.

Last year began with a simple gesture. Bebe’s mum, Lauren King, shared a quiet message on Instagram asking if anyone might wear a pop of yellow on 20th May, to mark World Bee Day and remember Bebe. What followed was something no-one could have predicted.

    Southport turned yellow.

Schools welcomed small flashes of sunshine into their uniforms. Nurseries encouraged children to arrive dressed in bright, joyful tones. The Atkinson glowed yellow into the evening. Churchtown Village was adorned with bows, tied carefully and thoughtfully throughout its streets.

On Wednesday 20th May 2026, Bebe’s Hive CIC invites everyone – schools, businesses, families, and individuals – to wear yellow for World Bee Day.

A simple act, but one that carries meaning: celebrating the life of Bebe King, while shining a light on the importance of protecting bees and the natural world around us.

They’d love you to join in and show your support by sharing your World Bee Day pictures on social media with the hashtag #worldbeeday

To mark this year’s campaign, a special ‘Celebrate Bebe’ t-shirt has been created in collaboration with Westcoast Workwear. The shirts are available now via the online merchandise portal, offering a simple way for the community to take part and show support.
