Scarisbrick man admits Liver Building firework attack.

30th July 2020

A 19-year-old man from Scarisbrick has today admitted firing a firework at the Liver Building.

Matthew Egglesden, of Turning Lane, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this morning facing one charge of arson.

The incident took place amid celebrations following Liverpool FC’s Premier League win last month. The cost of the damage is not yet known.

Defending Egglesden, Simon Driver said: “He accepts deliberately firing a rocket in the direction of the building and being reckless.”

Egglesden was accompanied by his family. The court heard the defendant had no previous convictions.

Egglesden was released on bail amid condition he may not enter Liverpool city centre.

He will appear at Liverpool Crown Court in August for sentencing.
