Police provide update on Southport car thefts

10th December 2021

Two thefts from motor vehicles have taken place within the last week on Rookery Road and Rawlinson Road in Southport, while a man has been captured on CCTV in the driveway of another home in the same nearby area.

All of these crimes have been reported as overnight thefts.

Police say CCTV images provided so far are of limited value, though more are expected. CCTV shows a suspect in the area at 4:20am of the evening in question.

At present police believe the same person is likely to be responsible for these incidents, and that this is a different offender from a theft from a car that occurred in Birkdale recently, which is also under investigation.

Merseyside Police said: “Please ensure that you check that vehicles are locked before you go to bed and that NOTHING of value is left inside, not even some loose change. Should you find that your vehicle has been broken into, please always report the crime. Your report could make the difference.”
