Southport businessman named in quartet charged with multiple fraud offences

The arrests were part of an investigation into the alleged sale of counterfeit goods.

A prominent Southport businessman has been charged with multiple fraud offences.

Adam Yaffe, 51, of Yaffe Photography has been charged after he and three others were arrested by the Regional Organised Crime Unit as part of an investigation into the alleged sale of counterfeit goods.

Jordan Borrowman, 32, Sandra Carney, 62 and Megan Carney-Barrowman, 33, are also all from Southport and have been charged with the same offences.

Megan Carney-Barrowman was also charged with money laundering offences.

Yaffe was previously a director of the Southport BID.

He has been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, becoming concerned in an arrangement which they knew or suspected facilitated the acquisition, retention, use or control of criminal property by or on behalf of another person, and possession or control of an article for use in fraud.

In 2023, a business belonging to Yaffe and Carney, TMD Ideas Ltd, was forced into liquidation owing over £50,000 to Barclays Bank.

They will be appearing at Sefton Magistrates Court on 10th April 2024.
