Merseyside Police launch Appeal following dog attack on Crosby Beach.

Merseyside Police can confirm a man has voluntarily attended at a local police station, on Friday, 29 June, after reports a small dog was attacked on Crosby beach on Tuesday, 26 June 2018.

Unfortunately the dog died as a result of the injuries sustained when attacked by other dogs on the beach at around 8.30pm.

At this stage the man has been interviewed and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Inspector Susan Stribling said: “An investigation is underway to establish exactly what has happened. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, who may have information which could help with our investigation to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC. You can also call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or via their online form at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information.

One minute after this picture was taken of Jeffrey, my brilliant little sausage, on Crosby Beach… the dogs in the other photos attacked him. 2 lurchers and a Shar Pei. They have ripped little Jeffrey apart. Throwing him in the air like a soft toy, pulling him apart in a horrendous savage attack. He is currently at the emergency vets, having sustained serious injuries, awaiting surgery.

The owner of the dogs is pictured here, with the dogs and his kids. The only point the guy reacted is when we took his picture. As we phoned the police, the guy left the beach, put the Shar Pei in the car, and abandoned the two lurchers in the car park. The police said they had reports that the dogs were still roaming at 1am.

There was a group of teenagers on the beach, who were just brilliant – they helped get the dogs off Jeff, and called the police.

In the mean time we are waiting to hear how Jeffrey is, and to see if he survives the night.
We can’t believe this has happened. We just feel numb. 😢

Update on Jeffrey. 28/06/2018 16:00

He’s made it through another night and is comfortable. He’s still ‘a very poorly boy’ – but is doing well. He’s due to have further surgery tomorrow to close some of the larger wounds.

The man with the dogs has been identified and named. The police have taken full statements from me and Steph. Witness statements are being gathered from the people who helped us on the beach. CCTV footage has been obtained of the man abandoning two of his dogs, after the attack.

I am absolutely overwhelmed and humbled by the amount of messages and kindness I have received, from all over the world. A good friend has set up a gofundme.com page, this is to help with Jeffrey’s vet bill. Sadly, on a practical level, financial worries were a consideration. His treatment ‘so far’ has amounted to £2.3k. Here’s the link…

Thank you to everybody who has helped in any way, it’s going to be a long road of recovery, it’s been a pretty horrendous experience, but has been made much softer by the kindness shown by others.

Jeffrey has gone viral on social media, he’s been featured on the Liverpool Echo website, he’s had celebrity donations into his fund, he’s had dogs donating their toy money, he’s had good wishes from Florida and Valencia, he’s got a whole lot of love out there and it really has helped, so thank you.
