Iceland – customer highlights lack of coronavirus care

18th April 2020

OTS News has received news from a concerned customer who recently visited Southport’s Iceland’s store in the town centre.

The customer stated: “I went to do my shopping at Iceland and on entering the store I saw that there was no disinfectant and wipes to clean the trolley handle. The trolley handle itself was very sticky. When I had got my items I went to the checkout. I politely advised the till assistant that they needed to have something to wipe the trolley with, as it felt gross. She just looked at me and carried on talking to another staff member who also ignored me.”

The customer added: “After putting through all my items, the assistant then put gloves on in order to pass me the till receipt. Before I got to the exit the second staff member just walked outside and lit a cigarette. Neither mentioned my trolley, nor went to clean it before another customer used it. When I got back to my vehicle in the car park I cleaned the trolley with my own antibacterial bottle. I then gave the trolley to an elderly couple who had just arrived, warning them that there seemed to be no cleaning facility in the store.”
