A Southport woman is asking for help after a company hit her with a £100 parking fine despite having paid for a ticket.

The woman, who was shopping at Iceland Supermarket in Southport on Boxing Day was shocked to find a demand of payment letter by a company called Excel Parking who say she never paid for a ticket and was parked illegally at the supermarket.

Although she has now thrown the parking stub away, the woman is frightened that the strongly worded demand could lead to further repercussions.

She is now asking for advice as she believes this is illegal and does not want to pay the extortionate amount.

UPDATE: Iceland pass parking management responsibility and lose customers

Since OTSnews published the article regarding Iceland car park rules back in November 2015 complaints regarding the Excel managed car park have flooded in with similar issues.

Iceland have continued to pass the book onto the management company, the resident whose issue we covered back in November said: “I have had another letter (below), it states that I need to pay £100. We are a low income family with a disabled child with CP. I told them I did buy a ticket but as I cleaned the car later that day I have thrown all car park tickets away.

I’m not sure if any of your readers can help with this matter as I feel I am being bullied by these people by standing up to them?”.update-letter-iceland

Southport’s Iceland Car Parking rules – be aware!

• Shoppers are being timed from the moment you enter the King Street car park and not from when they have payed and displayed.

A number of residents have recently contacted OTSnews regarding the parking rules at Iceland on King Street.

local resident, Caroline said: “I would like to warn shoppers about Iceland car park, shoppers are still getting fined even if leaving within the time on the ticket”

I entered the car park, waited for a space to become available, found some change and then typed in my reg. I then proceeded to shop in Iceland.

I returned to the car within the time limit I had paid for and left a short time after. Today I received a £60 fine because the cameras clocked me seven minutes over, this was because of time taken to get parked, etc… it’s a scam and needs addressing!”
