Guildford in southern England is the site of a new agreement by entertainment and online retail giant Amazon with local video game developer Glowmade to produce a game based on an original intellectual property (IP). Details of the deal have not been released, but Glowmade describes the new game in a blog post as “Wrestle-Mania-meets-Jim-Henson’s-Labyrinth… ridiculous, raucous fun.”

Glowmade’s founders self-deprecatingly describe their beginning in the vibrant video game community of Guildford as a “… typical U.K. based games company. Our three founders all worked together at Lionhead Studios, made some half decent stuff, got on well, shared stories, shared a dream. The key catalyst had been the combination of a core skill set: code, design, and art—the essence of games creation.”
The company of 25 says its ambition is to reinvent how people play, connect, and share their stories by developing inspirational games which empower joyful creativity—creative play and user generated content are at the heart of the company’s DNA. In addition to third-party publishing, Amazon Games is also developing original games across development teams and studios in Orange County, San Diego, Seattle, in the U.S., and Montreal, Canada. It “New World”, the upcoming open world MMO—massively multiplayer online, an online game with large numbers of players, often hundreds or thousands, on the same server—will launch later this month.

Amazon Games said it is constantly scouting for talented individuals who specialise in a variety of disciplines to help develop brand-new projects, as well as publishing exciting games from leading developers.
