If you’re looking for a solid keeper, look no further than AC Milan’s Donnarumma. The supercomputer simulation predicts that Italy will remain unscathed in the group stages (as they face Switzerland, Turkey and Wales in Group A), and make it all the way to the final. Sadly, the Italians will lose out to France at the Wembley finale, on penalties.
DEF: Giovanni Di Lorenzo
With Italy tipped to go all the way, understandably, Di Lorenzo teams up with Donnarumma at the back for the Team of the Tournament. The Napoli right-back loves to get forward, and will prove to be an integral member of Roberto Mancini’s side on the attack, as well as being solid defensively.
MID: Nicolò Barella
The 24-year-old was an integral member of Internazionale’s squad last season, as the club won their first Scudetto in a decade. With competition for places, the simulation predicted that underdog, Barella will prove equally as influential for Mancini’s side. Italy were in red-hot form during Euro 2020 qualification, and that’s set to continue all the way through the final tournament.
