Firefighters were called to Victoria Road this afternoon after a fire broke out at a second-floor flat, Friday January 8 2016

A spokeperson for Merseyside Fire Service has confirmed a fire in a rear bedroom was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. The incident took place shortly after 12pm.

All persons have been accounted for, though it is currently unknown as to whether anybody sustained any injuries.

Two fire appliances were called out, and crews are still at the scene as firefighters ventilate the property.

Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service were both also called to the scene.
