Emergency services assist man on rooftop

28th October 2020

Helicopters and emergency services were scrambled to Southport Town Centre last night after reports of a man in distress on a rooftop.

Emergency crews, including a team from National Police Air Service, rushed to the Bath Street area of Southport just before 11pm following a panicked 999 call to say a male was in distress on a high rooftop.

Police attended the scene and worked with Merseyside Fire and Rescue teams to safely bring the man down.

Officers then detained him under the Mental Health Act and the male is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
