April dates for Coronavirus testing in Sefton

April dates and locations for drive-through mobile coronavirus test units in Sefton can now be found at www.sefton.gov.uk/April-tests.

Mobile test units are for people who are showing coronavirus symptoms of a high temperature, a new persistent cough or a loss of taste or smell.

People who develop coronavirus symptoms need to book a test straight away by making an appointment at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.

Locations for the mobile units, which normally last for two or three days, are Ainsdale, Litherland and Southport. They will be operating every day in April apart from Sunday 4th, Friday 16th and Friday 30th.

Sefton also has walk-through Local Testing Centres, at Bootle Town Hall, Crosby Library, Netherton Activity Centre and Southport Town Hall. They are open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.

People need to have booked an appointment via www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119 to have a drive-through or walk-through test.

SMART tests, with results available in around 30 minutes, are also available for frontline workers and those with caring commitments. Usually open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week SMART test sites are at Aintree Racecourse, Bootle Leisure Centre and Splash World in Southport.

On Good Friday (2nd April) and Easter Monday, SMART testing centres will be open from 10am to 4pm. They will be open normal hours of 8am until 8pm on Saturday 3rd April but closed on Easter Sunday 4th April

Appointments are not needed for SMART tests and people can check how busy the centres are by visiting https://sefton.maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk/findatestcenter.

Home testing kits for households with school and nursery pupils, members of support bubbles, people working in childcare and other caring occupations, are also available. They can be collected from Bootle Town Hall and Splash World in Southport, which are open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

No appointments are necessary but those collecting packs must be aged 18 or over.

People can collect two packs containing seven lateral flow tests that provide results in under an hour.  are also available for people like frontline staff, people who are self-employed and sole traders who require regular testing.

The packs have full instructions on how to take the test and register results.
