Southport’s Fallen Leaf Clearance – When will it happen?

19th November 2016

Southport’s Fallen Leaf Clearance

During autumn and winter we prioritize the removal of leaves from the adopted roads and footpaths within the Borough of Sefton. Normal street cleansing operations are suspended during this period.

Please be aware that there is a schedule in place which deals with areas of leaf fall so there is no need to contact the Council about this matter.

Because the rate of leaf fall varies throughout the season, the amount of time taken to complete one full cycle of the schedule is unpredictable, so it is not possible to provide firm dates for when each street will be cleared.

Please be patient if there has been a rapid fall of leaves during windy weather, as unfortunately it is not possible to sweep every street immediately.

Around 600 tonnes of leaves are normally swept up from the roads and footpaths of Sefton during this period. All the leaves collected are sent for composting.
