Witnesses sought after Burscough street robbery

We are appealing for any potential witnesses of robbery in Burscough last Tuesday afternoon (August 15th) to come forward.

At around 1.10pm the victim, a 56 year old local man, was walking along Mart Lane on his way to deposit takings from his workplace.

A man armed with a large knife has emerged from a ginnel leading from the rear of houses on Mart Lane, making demands for the cash. After a brief struggle with the victim, the offender ran off back along the ginnel and got on to a waiting getaway motorcycle with thousands of pounds.

DC Kelly Anne Rosenthal from Skelmersdale CID said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and need anyone who may have information to speak to us.

“If you saw the incident or indeed you think you might have seen anyone acting suspicious on the day of the robbery or in the days leading up to it, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information can call us on 01695 566165 or if they fail to get an answer, 101 quoting incident reference 660 of August 15th.
