Roadworks in Birkdale have caused significant disruption during rush hour.
Temporary traffic lights have been installed at the junction of Arundel Road and Liverpool Road, causing delays in the area.
BT Openreach will up to three weeks rebuilding communications chambers under the road.
Traffic in the area is particularly busy during rush hour due to the proximity to Birkdale High School and Farnborough Road School, as well as being a main traffic artery for travel towards Liverpool.
Work is scheduled to continue until 30 March.
