VIDEO | Biscuit bar thief run over in unsuccessful getaway 

The emergency services were called to Virginia Street, Southport shortly after 10:00am this morning to a report of male being struck by a vehicle, Monday 3 April 2017. 

The man believed to be in his 20s, had been in collision with a Ford Transit Connect and had suffered a leg injury.

It turns out that the man was making his escape after stealing a ‘biscuit bar’ from the 1st stop shop on the corner of Hampton Road.

The thief suffered a broken leg in his unsuccessful getaway and was taken to Southport DHG.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101.
