Vandals have smashed up a Victorian Kings Gardens shelter, Southport over the weekend.

More shelters vandalised in Southport. This time a Victorian weather shelter on the South end of the Marines Lake.

Did you see anything or do you have any information on this incident? Please contact Merseyside Police by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In 2013 contractors brought back the first of nine victorian shelters to Kings Gardens, Southport, as part of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) through their Parks for People programme.

All nine shelters were dismantled and taken away in March 2013 to be sand blasted and restord to their former glory.

Joiners have started to replace the roof with wood as a base for the new metal coating.

Kings Garden restoration programme is one of the largest current park restoration projects in the UK and is entirely externally funded.

Wigan-based ironwork restorers ‘Lost Art,’ will return all the shelters to their original splendour during the months ahead.

Below are the shelters before restoration.
