UPDATE | Two arrested following warrants in Southport

17th December 2018
Merseyside Police have arrested a man and woman and recovered drugs after two Misuse of Drugs Act warrants were carried out this morning (Monday 17 December) in Southport.

Officers carried out the warrants at two addresses on Zetland Street and a number of bags of suspected mephedrone was recovered as well as drugs paraphernalia.

A 32-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man from Southport were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs (mephedrone). They have been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.

A Land Rover vehicle suspected of being stolen was also seized.

Community Inspector Graham Fisher said: “This was a really positive operation which we hope will reassure the community that we listen to their concerns, and will continue to do so.

“Drug use and supply will not be tolerated in Southport and we are determined to do everything we can to take drugs off our streets, and bring those involved to justice.

“We will continue to carry out warrants like this in areas which are highlighted to us, so please keep coming forward and we can make a real difference for those who live, work and visit Merseyside.”
