UPDATE | Pedestrian in critical condition after collision on Lord Street

A man is in critical condition after road traffic collision on Lord Street, Wednesday 11 December 2019.

Police cordoned off a section of Lord Street this morning after a pedestrian, believed to be an elderly male, was hit by a van before 9am.

The man was taken to hospital after the incident which happened by the Beales department store.

North West Ambulance Service said they attended with an “air ambulance, ambulance and Rapid Response Vehicle”.

Road closures were in place on Lord Street between London Street and Eastbank Street.

This is the second incident at the same area of Lord Street in a matter of months.

Merseyside Police gave the following advice to motorists:

“Please be advised that due to a serious road traffic collision, Lord Street Southport has been closed between Eastbank St and London St whilst Emergency Services deal with the incident. Please avoid the area at this time and find alternative routes.”
