Appeal for witnesses following fail to stop RTC in  Southport

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail to stop road traffic collision in Southport earlier today, Friday 19 October.

At around 9.25am, a call was received reporting a collision between a car and a pedal cycle ridden by a 73-year-old man at the roundabout at the junction of Park Crescent and Park Avenue, near to Hesketh Park.

The cyclist received a slight injury to his leg and ribs. The car failed to stop and drove away from the scene, possible down Park Crescent, and enquiries are ongoing to identify the car and driver. The car is described as turquoise, but the make and model is unknown at present.

Constable Kurt Timpson from the Matrix Roads Policing Unit said: “We would encourage anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward, as we need to identify the car and driver involved.

“Likewise, if you saw anything or have home CCTV or dashcam footage and were passing or live locally, please get in touch and we will take the appropriate action.”
