Tree butchers arrive at Kew Woods in Southport

2nd March 2018

Old Southport’s green places are vanishing fast.

Mature Southport trees (healthy and of various species)  were recently destroyed in a chain saw blitz, at the old Victorian Kew Woods location.

This is bad news for resident bats, birds and local mammals that used the place as a mini eco-sanctuary. So-called ‘legal protection’ of species appears to mean nothing. It’s no wonder that wildlife is suffering ever-diminishing numbers across the UK.

One local person told OTS News. “It’s a complete disgrace. As kids we used to play in the woods here at Kew and they were part of our Southport heritage. First we knew about this  was when we drove past and witnessed it being felled. “

Crimes against nature:  the innocent ones, with no voice of protest, get hit the hardest ever time.
