Town centre tailbacks after Lord Street breakdown

15th November 2022

Commuters are stuck in long tailbacks in Southport town centre this morning.

Two large crossover vehicles were involved in an incident on the roundabout between Lord Street and Albert Road just after 8am.

The incident forced both cars to stop on the southbound side of the roundabout.

it’s understood one of the cars had broken down.

The second vehicle stopped to assist and act as a hazard warning for oncoming traffic.

The incident has caused major tailbacks for traffic going both ways.

Commuters travelling into town from Marshside and Churchtown have been most affected with long tailbacks on Albert Road.
