The landlady of a Southport pub says she is not taking any chances after one of her staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Annie McTarggart, landlady of the Wellington Pub on Eastbank Street, has closed the pub for at least two weeks while following strict government guidelines.

Annie said: “I’ve closed today as a staff member has tested positive.

“So under my company amber taverns instructions we are closing fir 2 weeks as a safety measure for our lovely customers and staff.

“We havnt been forced to close by EHO and we did this ourselves.

“We were sanitized by A1 only last week so not a clue where she got it as we are extremely stringent in cleanliness and track and trace.”
