Thunder -v- Lightning : Women’s cricket is coming to Southport!
THIS SUNDAY, 22nd July, Lancashire Thunder will play the opening fixture of their KIA Women’s Super League T20 season in Southport, against the Loughborough Lightning.
This is the first women’s professional game to be staged at S&B and we want to make it a big success, so we are looking for plenty of local support.
Both teams will be fielding a number of big name international players, including Georgia Elwiss, Amy Jones & Jenny Gunn (all England), for Loughborough and Lancashire’s Kate Cross (England), Amy Satterthwaite (New Zealand) and Harmanpreet Kaur (India).
The match consists of 20 overs per side, starting at 2.30 pm, and should last about 3 hours. In addition there will be a girl guides’ cricket tournament and an All Stars junior cricket demonstration.
Gates open at 1.30 p.m., when the bar will be open and D’vine Catering will be running an all day BBQ.
Tickets are available at the gate price £5 for adults and just a £1 for juniors. Come on down, it’ll be fun!
