The most exciting upcoming games in 2022

13th March 2022

From January to March, especially, new games will be arriving thick and fast, as 2022 is finally here. Get ready for the upcoming Xbox Series X games, new Switch games, PC games, and PlayStation 5 games that are on their way, and make sure you have your wishlist prepared. From action to RPG, and even online slots and madalin stunt cars 2, there’s a lot to, and even online slots, there’s a lot to look forward to this year, so let us dive in.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the first open-world Pokemon game ever made. It has certainly caused quite a stir within the community. Sinnoh is the first region to have a Pokedex, and you’ll be creating the region’s first one in this unique episode. You can catch Pokemon by throwing a Pokeball at them while creeping towards them while you struggle to catch them; this will automatically start a battle between you and them. Here it is, the Pokemon game we’ve been waiting for.

OlliOlli World

The game’s deep combo system will provide you with an opportunity to master a skateboarding utopia – known as Radlandia. You can master “millions of unique levels” in the sandbox mode, as well as join global leagues for more competition. During your journey to discover the skate gods of Gnarvana, you will meet vibrant characters and customise your character.

Rainbow Six Extraction

Now called Rainbow Six Extraction, we previously knew it as Rainbow Six Quarantine – a name change for excellent reasons, naturally. The Archaeans are a type of parasite-like alien reminiscent of those in Rainbow Six Siege. This game offers cooperative multiplayer action where you must work with your squad to fight and defeat them.

Elden Ring

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin and Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki present Elden Ring, the next video game from FromSoftware. In the largest game from FromSoftware so far, Elden Ring is set in an open world rife with rich lore and bloody history, as well as powerful monsters, magic, and a horse.

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 may well be the only zombie game you’ll need in the foreseeable future, and no calendar is complete without one or two zombie games. With Dying Light, Techland got off to a terrific start in 2015, and with its sequel, the parameters are set to expand in every way. This beautifully apocalyptic game offers reactive gameplay, branching narrative, fine-tuned combat, and dramatically enhanced visuals in one beautifully apocalyptic package. Bats made of barbed wire are already ready and eager to take on zombie blood.

Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7 has unveiled a new trailer featuring car models that look so realistic you could almost smell the gasoline. Hinting at a return of super nerdy customisation options with engines and decals, the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, says Gran Turismo 7 will include all previous games’ components. It will be awesome to see how the PS5 can improve upon a series renowned for its visuals.

Horizon Forbidden West

As we travel to the post-apocalyptic setting of San Francisco in America, Aloy is back for a sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn. Sony’s Future of Gaming event showcased Horizon Forbidden West’s PS5 release, which features gorgeous, vibrant landscapes, big machines, and underwater sequences, the latter of which is particularly interesting. When Guerrilla Games finally releases its unique world on the next-generation console, we’ll no doubt find more mysteries to solve.

Sifu

Game developer Sloclap, who also developed Absolver, has released Sifu. But in this game, you assume the role of a Kung-Fu student looking for revenge. A unique feature of the game is an ageing mechanism that allows you to trade off your life if you make a mistake to try again and learn from it. However, once you reach an advanced age, you will die, so you have to start again.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

The loveable pink puffball is officially returning for a new platforming adventure on Switch in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. With abandoned buildings that decorate the landscapes in a mysterious world where remnants of past civilisations are visible, we already have a lot of questions. There’s so much to look forward to in the return of the small but mighty hero, as it’s the first 3D adventure in the Kirby series.

Triangle Strategy

With its sprite-style graphics, Triangle Strategy brings us a new strategy RPG in the HD-2D series. You’ll become Serenoa, newly appointed lord of Norzelia, as you take command of soldiers on the battlefield, make critical decisions that impact the destiny of the continent, and become entangled in the power struggle between nations. Square Enix revealed that it has been working on the upcoming release since Player Feedback launched the demo earlier this year.
