The French Connection at the Atkinson Monday 6 June 2016
The French Connection makes us think of Les Six, the name given to a group of six composers living in the area around Montparnasse. Their work was thought to be a reaction against the musical style of Richard Wagner and the impressionist music of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. The most famous one of the six is perhaps Francois Poulenc and today you can hear his Sextet for piano and winds. Also in the programme, some Eric Satie for piano and the Trois Pièces Brèves written for wind quintet by Jacques Ibert.
Season tickets are £38 plus a booking fee and include entry to all four events (May – August). Just purchase all of the events and your cart will automatically update.
Part of our Cake and Classical series of music concerts. Price includes a piece of cake and a cup of tea.
Please note: the organisers reserve the right to make late changes to performers or repertoire in the event of illness.
