The Southport Armed Forces Veterans Group have presented JD Wetherspoon with a certificate of appreciation this morning, in an event attended by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside.
Created to support local military veterans, the group meet 09:30 every Wednesday at the Sir Henry Seagrave on Lord Street for breakfast, with an open invitation extended to any former service member who wishes to join them.
The group also regularly welcomes family members, and former emergency services personnel.
The Southport Armed Forces Veterans Group regularly works with a number of veteran’s charities to offer a range of support where required.
Deputy Lord Lieutenant Colonel Mark Underhill OBE presented the certificate on behalf of the group.
The framed certificate reads: “In sincere recognition of your outstanding support, generosity and commitment to the Armed Forces community.
“Your kindness and hospitality make a real difference and are truly appreciated.”
Organiser Roly Sutton told OTS News the group was supported by a number of local businesses, charities and organisations including One Vision Housing, RS Components, Kokomo, Floating Grace Liverpool, Waterside Lodge, Fletchers Solicitors, Standing Tall Foundation, Healthy Heroes and Little Gourmet.
Colonel Mark Underhill OBE told OTS News: “As a British Army veteran it was particularly poignant for me to come along and meet some of the veterans who live in Southport thank them for the work that they do and to thank Wetherspoons who have supported them fantastically by hosting their veteran’s breakfasts.
