Southport town centre traffic lights not working

Drivers say London Street is an accident waiting to happen after lights at a key junction have been out since Saturday.

Cars and busses are carefully having to edge out into suspected oncoming traffic for the last five days after the lights failed.

Pedestrians have also put their lives into their hands while crossing the road which joins Hoghton Street and handles lots of traffic into the town centre.

Cab drivers say they are reluctant to work at the rank nearby for fear of their car being struck when they try and leave.
