Southport school girls go the extra mile to help the homeless

Two young Southport girls have done their parents and schoolteachers proud after side handedly collected special care packages for the homeless.

Ellie Tidy, 9, and Megan Cromwell, 11, who are niece and auntie respectively, decided to spend their Christmas pocket money helping the less fortunate during the holidays and set about collecting scarves, hats and clothing for five homeless people in the town centre.

The kind hearted duo walked around in the cold weather to hand out the parcels boxes to the homeless. In one instance they were spotted by a passing couple who cried when they learnt what the girls were doing.

Ellie’s mum and Megan’s sister, Michelle, said: “I would like to say we are all so very proud of you both.”
