Southport Independent Electrical Retailer Praised in Parliament

• Shadow Small Business Minister Labour MP, Bill Esterson has praised a Merseyside based family business during a recent purchase of a dishwasher for the example they set on how shops can succeed despite the very difficult trading conditions being experienced in the economy.

• Speaking in a debate on the development of a Retail Strategy he cited Smiths TV as an example of how independent retailers can thrive on local high streets commenting “The good use of technology, allied to equipping staff with the technical and interpersonal skills that I experienced at Smiths, offers a vision of a successful retail future.”

• The Shadow Minister for Small Business advocated for: “A successful retail strategy should put in place support for businesses to harness the power of the internet and to benefit from a combination of online and offline shopping. Smiths TV in Formby shows how that can work”

Smiths TV is a family run business now in its 5^th generation which has been based in Merseyside for over 100 years with four branches in Southport, Burscough, Formby and Ainsdale with a national website presence.
