Southport Flower show Seeks Volunteers

Southport Flower Show is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join its team and make this year’s event bigger and better than ever before.

The 2018 show will be held from 16th-19th August and volunteers are required to join the Customer Services Team. Roles on offer including staffing information stands, ticket checking and programme sales.

For the first time this year the Flower Show – which has charitable status – is also allowing well-behaved dogs on leads into the grounds, and dog-loving volunteers are needed to provide assistance to visitors with pets where needed.

Flower Show managers say they are looking for volunteers with excellent people and public relations skills, a positive attitude and patience, and an interest in providing help and assistance.  Most of the roles are based outside and involve standing during shifts.

In return for their hard work, volunteers will receive two complimentary tickets for friends and family, which can be used on any of the four days of the show.

Rachael West, Volunteering and Citizenship Worker with Sefton Volunteer Centre which is supporting the Flower Show with the recruitment, commented: “Southport Flower Show is one of the most prestigious events of its type in the country, and this is a great opportunity for local people to join its friendly team.

“As well as getting an interesting insider’s view of how the show works, they will have the satisfaction of knowing that they are making a positive contribution to one of the jewels in Southport’s tourism crown.”
