Sinkholes should be used for rubbish say nostalgic residents

Residents fed up of complaints about potholes and sink holes say they should go back to the good old days and fill them with rubbish.

One scooter driving nostalgic Southport resident told OTS News that people should be more bothered about dog poo than pot holes that damage your car.

they said “As a young lad I well remember seeing a few good men setting off ‘in a bucket’ to repair, a then more than 100-year-old, sewer.

“They would sit in the bucket and be lowered in to that smelly ibis to point the brick work.

“Now there is dedication for you and I don’t ever remember the road being closed.

“A sinkhole was where your mum poured the slops from the bath water. Now would any hardy soul wish to rummage around the Richard the Thirds to keep us safe on our bikes theses days.

“I had a thought – if we had not removed the cobbles from the roads there would be no need for speed bumps and most motorists would stick to 20mph on side roads but, hey, what do I know as I only drive my scooter on the pavement and that’s a task in itself – dodging the badly parked cars and bins left by the refuse collectors!”
