The work of Southport FC Ladies manager Noel Warham has been recognised with a prestigious Volunteer Of The Month Award.

The National League North Volunteer Of The Month Award was issued to Noel for December 2022 thanks to his outstanding contribution to local grassroots football.

Every volunteer at the National League North’s 24 member clubs can be eligible for the award.

Noel, professionally an Assistant Head Teacher at a secondary school, has managed the Southport FC Ladies Team since 2001 and currently serves as the Chair of the Southport FC community teams, and as a trustee of Southport FC Community Foundation while regularly travelling around the country watching the Southport FC first team.

He also appears weekly on the unofficial supporters Port Chat Pod Cast.

But Noel was quick to pay tribute to all of the club’s volunteers, speaking on the Southport FC website Noel said: “I feel quite humbled by it all really. I just try and help out where I can, that’s the bedrock that the club is built on.

“There’s so many people who help out. All these people give up their time week in week out to help out the club. It’s no exaggeration to say that without the work they do there wouldn’t be a Southport Football Club, it would be impossible for it to operate.

“In one way I collect this on behalf of every one of them and almost represent them because they are the lifeblood of what Southport Football Club is about.”

“We should never take volunteers for granted. The difference they make to the community and the difference they can make to people’s lives is immeasurable. I stand in awe of every single one of them.”

Southport FC’s next game is a bumper fixture against AFC Fylde at Haig Avenue this coming Saturday.
