Security dog handler called to action in Lifeboat House raid

23rd September 2019

Yesterday night (22nd September), at around 23:45, Southport Lifeboat House was broken into.

The thieves gained entry to the Boathouse after cutting through the door, however, this activated the in-house alarm and CCTV system. Pleasureland’s security dog handler, who was patrolling the area, intervened before the thieves were able to make off with any our equipment.

After our Quad Bikes were stolen in December 2014, security measures were increased thanks to the generosity of the public and local businesses. This now highlights the need for enhanced security measures in the new building.

Southport Lifeboat is an independent organisation that operates solely through public donations. If the thieves had succeeded, this would’ve seriously affected our rescue capability; especially leading into a busy Autumn period.

We would like to thank Pleasureland’s security personnel for preventing any further damage or loss to our organisation – In particular Cyrus, the guard dog, for his input into reminding one of the thieves not to come back.

If anyone has any information we ask you to contact the Police on 101 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
