S&A golfers raise over £15,000 for Queenscourt Hospice

Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club have raised over £15,000 for Queenscourt Hospice.

In December last year, Elizabeth Hartley, Fundraising Manager at Queenscourt, was invited to attend a cheque presentation at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club after members raised an incredible £15,488.00 for the hospice.

The donation follows 12 months of fundraising by Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club, after the club Captains’ nominated Queenscourt Hospice as their chosen charities.

Each year, Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club elects a new Captain and Lady Captain. In 2023, the club nominated Derrick Pilkington as captain and Dianne Gillespie, Events Manager at Queenscourt, as Lady Captain.

Over the course of 2023, both Derrick and Dianne ran fundraising events, which included Charity Golf Days, Race Day etc, resulting in the members raising a significant amount for the hospice.

Dianne Gillepsie, Lady Captain said: “I am used to implementing an exciting programme of fundraising events for the hospice, which ranges from the famous Santa Sprint and Star Trekk events to the Queenscourt Summer Ball.

“It was therefore a tremendous privilege to be nominated as Lady Captain of Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club during 2023 and be able to use this platform to raise additional funds for Queenscourt throughout the year.

“I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to our Captain for his fantastic enthusiasm and the role he played in our programme of fundraising activity. I would also like to thank all our members, for the role they played in raising so much money for Queenscourt. I truly hope they enjoyed the year as much as I did.”

“Queenscourt provides exceptional compassionate care to patients and families across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire. Our geographical area also extends into areas such as Skelmersdale, Tarleton and Formby where we deliver as much care as we do in the Southport area.
