Two sporting enthusiasts are in the running for proposal of the year after getting engaged on the same spot where they met as likeminded joggers half a decade ago.
Howard Nuttall has got down on one knee many times to tie his running shoes in front of his partner Donna Spencer but last week, instead of lacing up, he popped the question to the love of his life instead.
The running enthusiast pair met at the Rubbish Tip 5K which takes place at Dobbies Southport five years ago and immediately struck up a liking for each other.
Their relationship soon sprinted ahead and they fell madly in love.
Now Howard, son of Maureen and John, will start to plan his wedding to Donna, daughter of Donald and Anne Harvey.
The happy couple are yet to set a date but remarked that they can’t wait for their marathon journey ahead.
