Two volunteers from the Royal British Legion, Netherton & Sefton Branch, were honoured at a meeting in Bootle Town Hall recently.

Jimmy Kavanagh and Alan Kelly were both nominated by the Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Robert Brennan, in recognition of their hard work within the Sefton Borough community, local schools and for their support of Sefton’s veterans.

The certificates were presented on the day by the Lord Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Iain Brodie-Browne.

Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Iain Brodie-Browne said: “It was a great pleasure to honour Jimmy and Alan for all the hard work they do in their local community. This includes them going into schools to give talks to the children on the history of the 1st & 2nd world wars and retelling some of their own experiences.

“Jimmy and Alan also monitor the war memorials in the Bootle & Netherton area, reporting any issues or damage that they find.”
