Railway society treated to architecture talk

9th December 2018

Southport Model Railway Society enjoyed a detailed look at the construction of the Merseyrail Loop and Link lines, which revolutionised travel in Liverpool 40 years ago.

The talk was given by John Ryan, using his original colour slides taken whilst working as the liaison engineer on what has been the only main line underground railway built outside London for more than a century.

The society’s next talk will take place at the club room on Portland Street on Tuesday, December 11. Guest speaker, architect Graham Whitehead, will take members through a whirlwind review of station architecture from 1930 onwards from the Liverpool to Manchester Railway right through to Canary Wharf station
