Public invited to hospital Annual Members’ Meeting

16th September 2019

Aintree University Hospital is holding its Annual Members’ Meeting on Wednesday 25 September 2019.

The public is invited to attend the event, from 4:30pm – 7pm in the hospital’s Clinical Sciences Centre, to find out more about Aintree’s performance and progress during ‪2018-19‬ and learn about plans for the future.

Last month the Competition and Markets Authority cleared proposals that would see Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust merge with the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust to create one of the largest university hospital trusts in the North of England.

They are expected to merge formally in October to create Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The individual hospitals – Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital – will retain their current names.

The Annual Members’ Meeting will include presentations from Aintree’s Chair, Deputy Lead Governor and Board of Directors and will be followed by a question and answer session.

Steve Warburton, Chief Executive of Aintree University Hospital, said: “It has been a busy 12 months but, despite facing significant pressures, our hard working staff have put major improvements in place. A number of patient safety initiatives have been rolled out, including investing an additional £8 million in front line services.”

Neil Goodwin, Chair of Aintree University Hospital, said: “Over the last year Aintree has made considerable progress in its quality improvement journey and in overall performance. While there remain challenges to be addressed, staff should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved, particularly in their continued to put patient safety at the heart of all they do.

“This will be my last members’ meeting as Chair of the Trust and I look forward to reflecting on the achievements of the last year, which have put Aintree in a very good position ahead of the merger. I am confident that Aintree will go from strength to strength in the years ahead.”
