Southport’s stunning King’s Gardens is holding a free evening of music with a special Proms in the Park.

Venetian Nights themed event will see Maghull Wind Orchestra playing popular film theme tunes on Saturday, August 1 in the Community Garden.

Community Garden event will start at 7.30pm and music fans are asked to get in the Venetian Nights theme by dressing up for the evening.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member Health and Wellbeing, said:

“The Proms In the Park promises to be an exciting evening of classical music in the perfect surroundings of King’s Gardens.

“Historically in the gardens, Venetian Nights were held where local residents dressed up, played music and sailed around the lake in gondolas and now we want to bring some of this energy and enjoyment back.”

Visitors can bring picnics to the event and are also asked to provide their own blankets to sit on as no seating is provided.
