Post Office ‘covidiots’ should follow letter of the law says furious shopper

The Post Office are investigating a complaint from a Southport resident after he branded shop workers ‘Covidiots’ for allegedly not wearing masks.

Darrell Matthews has issued a formal complaint to the Post Office after he was allegedly told by staff at the Hesketh Drive post office they didn’t need to wear masks because they ‘owned the shop.’

The Churchtown based post office, like a number of others in the town, follows rules set out by national management. It’s understood no other complaints have been raised.

The Post Office say they are now investigating the claims over health and safety, saying they were carrying out a full assessment of Mr Matthew’s claims before ‘jumping to any conclusions.’

Mr Matthews also complained that the store had no social distancing markers and was told by staff to ‘complain to the post office if he wasn’t happy.’

In his complaint he branded the shop workers ‘covidiots’ for their apparent stance.

The Post Office will not comment until a full investigation has been carried out.
