A white van was abandoned without trace of its owner on an unlit stretch of country road, Thursday 28 December.
The “accident waiting to happen”, as described by a frightened motorist who was lucky not to smash into the back of the van, on Birkdale Cop hill.
Police were called at around 9pm and searched the area for the van’s driver who has disappeared without trace.
The mystery of why the van has been abandoned with no lights or warning continues baffle officers who have put road traffic cars on the stretch of dark road to warn drivers of the ongoing incident.
