Police advise that Hesketh Park mystery “pink pellets” are bird seed

9th March 2021

Following reports of dogs ingesting pink pellets on Hesketh Park, Merseyside Police have advised that two people have come forward to let them know that they have been feeding the birds in the park with bird seed.

This bird seed matches the description of the pink pellets described by the dog owners, is not believed to be harmful to dogs, and has been left on the park in good faith.

Merseyside Police want to reassure the community in Southport that no harm has come to any dogs as a result of ingesting these pink pellets.

Dog owners should remain vigilant while in the park to avoid their dogs eating any unknown items and for owners keep dogs under control at all times.

Police patrols are regularly deployed to Hesketh Park and the surrounding area to ensure the park remains safe for all of us to use.
