‘Pensioner’ taken to hospital after fall on Lord Street, Southport

Paramedics were allied to Lord Street, Southport earlier today after an elderly woman fell and cracked her head open while shopping with her family.

The woman, believed to be in her early 80s had finished shopping at Edinburgh Woolen Mill but after walking towards the cab rank, tripped and fell, smashing her head on the corner of a bench.

First aiders from a nearby shop rushed to her aid as her family called for an ambulance and after a short wait, a first responder arrived to administer medical attention.

The woman, who was a day tripper to the town, was taken to Southport A&E where she was treated for a gash to her temple. She received a number of stitches and was discharged.
