Patient given £15,000 after botch job at Formby dentist

A pensioner has been given £15,000 in compensation from his dentist after a botched root canal treatment left him with permanent nerve damage.

Raymond Conway, who lives in Halsall, was awarded the money from Dr Edward Scott Atkin, formerly of Old Mill Lane Dental Practice in Formby.

Mr Conway says the treatment was excruciatingly painful at the time and he now has permanent numbness around his mouth.

A spokesperson for Old Mill Lane Dental Practice said: “Dr Atkin is no longer a dentist at our practice.

“Patient care is our priority and we would like to apologise for Mr Conway’s experience”
