Police were called to Marks and Spencer on Chapel Street this afternoon following a call from security guards. Thursday 21 May 2015.
The irate shoplifter was brought from Chapel Street to a waiting police van parked in the Christ Church car park.
A witness said:
“We heard screaming and shouting, the women had clearly been drinking. The security guards who detained her were having a good look through her bag.
The arresting Police officer confiscated a can of Special Brew which he then through onto the ground. Its a good job the police officer was not fined by the Southport litter wardens”.
The women was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and then taken to Copy Lane police station for further questioning.
